James Quinn-Hawtin teaches and choreographs Latin dancing, specialising today in Salsa and, in past years, in the Brazilian dance-style Zouk.
He is credited by his loyal students as being fun, clear, cheeky, patient, passionate and surprising. Attention to smoothness and clarity of connection are of high importance in both his dancing and teaching.
In November 2012 he choreographed, in Saigon, for Vietnam’s first season of the TV show So You Think You Can Dance.

In March of 2014 he officially launched James Quinn-Hawtin Dance Academy with its first “Introduction to Latin Dancing” course. Today, in 2022, the school is known as Dance Culture and is one of the highest rated schools in Australia and offers the most advanced Salsa classes in Brisbane.
In September of 2014, he organised and taught the largest Zouk flash mobs in the world with over 180 participants learning the choreography in Brisbane, Australia.
In 2021, having successfully directed his school throughout the COVID19 pandemic, he was presented with a professional award of recognition at World Salsa Solo for his contribution to the Australian Latin dance industry.
